Heartlines Spec is an online magazine bringing you stories and poetry focused on long-term friendships and relationships. What do we consider to be long-term? That's up to you. We're not looking meet-cutes, first dates, or evil exes.
Relationship-focused stories and poetry are pieces where the plot is pushed forward by characters working together and bouncing off their shared history. Think Nick and Nora Charles in The Thin Man series (not spec but iconic), The Umbrella Academy siblings, the clones of Orphan Black, Deanna Troi and Will Riker in Star Trek: Next Generation, Axl and Beatrice in The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro, Elma and Nathaniel York in The Lady Astronaut series by Mary Robinette Kowell, Litaz and Dawoud in Throne of the Crescent Moon by Saladin Ahmed.
We are prepping to launch in December 2022 with Issue #1 releasing in February 2023.
Stories will be released to subscribers one week prior to becoming available for free. Contributors will be gifted print copies of the magazine as well as a pdf and epub version.
