Are you a Canadian/Turtle Island resident interested in joining our mag? We're looking for staff to help develop the magazine and create our own style.

We're currently seeking Editors and Readers. At this time we cannot pay our staff but would love to grow the magazine to that point where a yearly stipend is possible.

What is the difference between an Editor and a Reader?

  1. Time: being an Editor means paying attention to all the smaller deadlines that creep up, including social media posts, prepping webpages, and organizing spreadsheets.
  2. Close Reading: being an Editor also means looking past how much you love a story and boiling it down to its bones. Can you improve the seasonings, know where to cut back, spot all those pesky grammar issues?

Do you enjoy...

  • Reading and editing short stories (either for other magazines or for your own work)
  • Using Google Docs to edit documents
  • Multitasking on little details that might only matter to you and maybe one other person?
  • Spending hours banging your head against a wall?
  • Contributing more than 10 hours a month?

Then join us as an Editor! We're looking for 2-3 people interested in editing short fiction and poetry. Apply at info@heartlines-spec.com with a short bio on any publications or interests.

Do you enjoy...

  • Reading new works?
  • Dropping in with you're most needed and swanning out like a rock star?
  • Contributing under 10 hours each quarter?

Then join us as a Reader! We're looking for 2-3 people interested in becoming the vanguards of the magazine. Apply at info@heartlines-spec.com with a short bio on any publications or interests.
